Description
Maple Burl Prayer Wheel
This standard size prayer wheel is made out of special maple burl wood, sustainably harvested in our home state of Oregon.
This perfect size was developed over many years of trial and error. It is large enough to contain a substantial amount of mantras, yet small enough to carry around easily and also be spun for hours without resulting in fatigue.
The handle length is between 5 and 6 inches. The handle has an ergonomic grip which comfortably facilitates the slight muscle movements needed to spin the prayer wheel without it feeling awkward in the hand.
Inside it contains 24 million Avalokiteshvara mantras, 1.5 million Green Tara mantras, 2.5 million Yamantaka, 1.2 million Manjushri mantras and 326.000 Guru Rinpoche mantras, printed on microfilm. It spins effortlessly on high quality lifetime ball bearings using a natural turquoise as a spinner that is attached with a sturdy yet elegant chain.
The top design is our “Tara’s nipple” design. This top was designed by H.E. Garchen Rinpoche who said it is to remind us of our mothers and Tara.
The engraving is Mani mantra in Sanskrit.
Note: Burl wood is inherently imperfect and almost always has holes, voids and bark inclusions. This imperfection is what gives figured woods their beauty. We fill voids with a black epoxy and stabilize all pieces to be as durable and lasting as any piece of wood. Make sure to look at the pictures and be aware of this before deciding that a burl wood prayer wheel is right for you.
All our prayer wheels are finished with a non toxic all natural wood finish and produced with 100% renewable electricity.
