Mani Prayer Wheel
This is our standard size prayer wheel.
This perfect size was developed over many years of trial and error. It is large enough to contain a substantial amount of mantras, yet small enough to carry around easily and also be spun for hours without resulting in fatigue.
The handle length is between 5 and 6 inches. The handle has an ergonomic grip which comfortably facilitates the slight muscle movements needed to spin the prayer wheel without it feeling awkward in the hand.
The prayer wheel is made out of beautifully patterned maple burl wood sustainably harvested in our home state of Oregon.
Note: Burl wood is inherently imperfect and almost always has holes, voids and bark inclusions. This imperfection is what gives figured woods their beauty. We fill voids with a black epoxy and stabilize all pieces to be as durable and lasting as any piece of wood. Make sure to look at the pictures and be aware of this before deciding that a burl wood prayer wheel is right for you.
Inside it contains 35 million Avalokiteshvara mantras, 3 million Medicine Buddha mantras and 2 million Green Tara mantras printed on microfilm. It spins effortlessly on high quality lifetime ball bearings using a natural turquoise as a spinner that is attached with a string.
The top shape is nipple design. As our teacher Garchen Rinpoche said : “The nipple on top reminds us of our mother’s, the nipple is Tara.”
All our prayer wheels are finished with a non toxic all natural wood finish and produced with 100% renewable electricity.
